Why Produce an Independent Project?

Nothing will prepare you better for a career in media production than having the experience of developing and producing a project from beginning to end. You will, with out a doubt, learn the technology as you progress through a project but you will also gain valuable skills in organization, communication and project planning.

About the Program

GCTV has worked with college students and their advisors to develop independent study programs for college credit. There are endless opportunities for independent study, both behind the scenes and in front of the camera. Video and film majors can work in our studio and produce programs for our broadcast channels. Those looking for experience in front of the camera either as an actor, news anchor or interviewer can talk to us about opportunities for gaining such experience. Journalism majors can gain experience and build their portfolio by writing for our blog. Graphic design and music majors can help us create custom content for videos and web.

Email Shannon Gale to arrange a tour or an interview. We welcome inquiries from college and university faculty as well as students.

Guilford Students

Add GCTV to your resource list for completing class assignments that have a video component. Use our studio, field and editing equipment. The key is to get in our calendar as soon as you receive the assignment. Call us and find out what is available to you. Get help from staff and student interns to learn the technology needed for your project.

Capstone Projects

Guilford High School students can take advantage of GCTV's resources in producing their capstone project. GCTV is proud to have served as a technical advisor to the 2017 Capstone, "Seven Days of Healthy Eating" by Anna Reagle.

Even if there is no video element in a Capstone GCTV invites any student to come in and present their Capstone for our cameras so we can share their knowledge and work with the Guilford community on our broadcast channels.
